1. About these terms
This website is operated by Dalton & Holland Accounting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17434455, with its registered office and business address at 35, Little Close, Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot, TQ12 3YZ, United Kingdom. The director is Ian Mark Baker. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that company; “you” refers to any user of this website.
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
2. Website information is general
Everything published on this website is general information about the accounting and tax services offered. It is not advice, and it is not a substitute for advice. It does not take account of your circumstances, your records, your business structure, your accounting period or your tax position, and it should not be relied upon as though it did.
Tax law, HMRC guidance, Companies House requirements, thresholds, rates, allowances, reliefs and deadlines change. Content that was accurate when written may cease to be accurate. No responsibility is accepted for action taken, or not taken, on the basis of website content alone.
3. No engagement until agreed
Submitting an enquiry form, sending an email, or otherwise contacting us does not create a client relationship, an engagement, or any obligation on either party. Accounting and tax service availability is not guaranteed, and we may decline an enquiry without giving reasons.
An engagement begins only when scope, responsibilities, fees and terms have been agreed in writing between us. Until that point, no work is being carried out on your behalf and no deadline is being managed for you.
4. Scope confirmed individually
Accounting, tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, tax-credit reviews, reliefs, allowances, offsets, strategic accounting, filing deadlines, HMRC correspondence, Companies House filings, evidence requirements and final advisory scope are confirmed individually for each enquiry. Nothing described on this website is offered as a fixed package applying automatically to every client.
5. What recommendations depend on
Any recommendation, calculation, review or piece of advice depends on client status, income, expenses, records, business structure, applicable tax rules, HMRC guidance, deadlines, eligibility, evidence and agreed terms. Where the underlying information is incomplete, inaccurate, late or subsequently changed, conclusions drawn from it may change or cease to apply.
6. No guaranteed outcomes
Tax refunds, tax savings, tax-credit outcomes, relief eligibility, HMRC acceptance, filing outcomes, audit outcomes, penalty avoidance, cash-flow improvements and commercial results are not guaranteed.
No tax refund guarantee, tax saving guarantee, tax-credit guarantee, relief eligibility guarantee, offset guarantee, HMRC acceptance guarantee, filing outcome guarantee, audit outcome guarantee, penalty avoidance guarantee, cash-flow improvement guarantee or commercial result guarantee is given or implied by anything on this website, unless confirmed in writing with evidence and agreed terms in a specific engagement.
7. Client responsibilities
Where an engagement is agreed, client responsibility includes providing accurate income details, expense records, receipts, bank statements, payroll records, VAT records, business information, deadlines, prior filings, notices, approvals and timely communication.
Taxpayers and directors remain legally responsible for their own returns, filings and declarations, including where those documents are prepared with our support. Nothing is submitted on your behalf without your review and approval.
8. Third parties
HMRC, Companies House, pension providers, payroll software, cloud accounting platforms, banks, insurers, lenders, auditors, solicitors and other third parties may have separate rules, costs, deadlines, availability, requirements and terms. Their processes, decisions, processing times, outages and pricing are outside our control, and we are not responsible for them.
9. Specialist advice
Tax, audit, legal, financial advice, investment, pension, employment, insolvency, regulatory, sector-specific and specialist matters should be reviewed with appropriately qualified specialists where required. Where a matter falls outside the scope of accounting and tax support, it is identified and referred rather than answered.
10. Allowances, reliefs, credits and offsets
Allowances, reliefs, credits, expenses and offsets must be supported by eligibility, business purpose, records, evidence and applicable rules. A review may conclude that a relief or claim is not available, or that the evidence is insufficient to support it. That conclusion is a legitimate outcome of the work, not a failure of it.
11. No aggressive avoidance
We do not offer, arrange, promote or advise on tax avoidance schemes, artificial or contrived arrangements, disclosable arrangements, or any structure whose main purpose is to obtain a tax advantage contrary to the intention of the legislation. Requests of that nature are declined.
12. Professional status
Dalton & Holland Accounting Ltd is an independent company registered in England and Wales, carrying on the activity described by SIC code 69201 — Accounting and auditing activities. It is not part of, endorsed by, approved by, or acting as agent for HMRC or Companies House.
No claim is made on this website to chartered status, to membership of any professional body, to audit registration, to authorisation to give regulated financial, investment, pension, mortgage or insurance advice, or to any award, accreditation or certification. Where any such status is required for a matter, it is referred to a specialist who holds it.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Liability in respect of any agreed engagement is governed by the terms of that engagement, not by these website terms.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, their subject matter or formation, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
17. Changes to these terms
These terms may be revised from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you use the website is the version that applies. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
